About the Workshop:
Working with children who have communication disorders and social skills deficitsinvolves careful investigation to understandhow they see the world. Looking throughtheir "lens" is a crucial part of developingtrust and making their social lives moreenjoyable. This seminar begins with clinical vignettes to attune participants to the world of thesocially challenged child. The artwork ofchildren who participate in social skillsgroups illustrates how these children seethemselves and the people around them. You will learn to make successful creativeinterventions that help the child learn cog-nitively what most children understandintuitively. By thinking outside the box youwill develop tools that help children gener-alize what they’ve learned.
